About Jewish History Study
Tours
“The most enduring commitments
to Judaism are born of intellectual engagement with its
history and its lessons.” ...Claire Simmons
After nineteen years of highly acclaimed, private chartered
tours, Jewish History Study Tours is pleased to announce tours
available to the general public.
Under the leadership of renowned tour guide and historian
Claire Goldstein Simmons, Jewish History Study Tours offers
intellectually rigorous, week-long study trips to Poland and
the Czech Republic. Participants will enjoy a rare glimpse
of the “Golden Age” of Jewish life and culture
before World War II, interspersed by visits to major Nazi concentration
camps.
For six weeks prior to departure, participants attend a weekly
class taught by Ms. Simmons. Students are expected to read
and discuss major texts on Jewish history and the Holocaust.
Each day on tour, students will enjoy comprehensive on-site
lectures, followed by group discussions to process the day’s
sights and study. For more on the inspiration and philosophy
of Jewish History Study Tours, please read below.
